Abstract

The purpose of this studywas to determine the effect of the increasing levels of cabbage waste in the total mixed ration on nitrogen intake, digestibility, nitrogen retention, blood urea concentration and biological value (BV) of protein ration in kacang goats. A total of 4 kacang goats,11-12 months of age with a body weight of 15-19kg (± 17kg) were involvedin this experiment. The experiment was following a latin square design with 4 treatments and 4 periods as replication. Alltested rations were in the form of total mixed rations with a rasio of dry grass and concentrate of 60%:40%. The treatments is T0: without (0%) cabbage waste flour, T1: 10% cabbage waste flour, T2: 15% cabbage waste flour, T3: 20% cabbage waste flour. This data is analyzed using analysis of variance. Results showed that the use of cabbage vegetable waste in the total mixed rations had a significant effect (P<0.05) has increase nitrogen intake, but has no effect (P>0.05) was found on nitrogen digestibility, nitrogen retention, blood urea, concentration and the biological valueof . The inclusion of cabbage waste in a complete ration/ (Total Mixed Ration) can increased nitrogen intake, Meanwhile, the use of cabbage waste flour up to 20% does not affect nitrogen digestibility, nitrogen retention, blood urea concentration and the biological value of the ration. It is suggested that cabbage waste (Brassica olaracea) in ration of 20% and further research needs to be done by using a cabbage waste level of more than 20% in the ration to be able to determine the weight gain of goats.
